I was one of the 20,000 runners at the Nike Run Hit Wonder 5k/10k running race on Sunday, April 24, 2004 in Los Angeles. I was probably one of the few, if not the only, who ran with both a digital camera and a digital video camera in his hands. As as a serious 80's music aficionado, I couldn't miss this opportunity to record such an event for both posterity and my next high school reunion. Plus I had so much fun last year that I just had come back! (Lots of other people like this event, too; it had 10,000 runners last year, so it has doubled in size. The route has improved too: from Hollywood last year to the USC area and finishing at the LA Coliseum this year.)
Unlike the other runners, I actually stopped to listen to each of the performers for at least a few minutes, not to mention see what they look like after all these years. Yet there was still always a big sea of runners behind me (not that I'm so fast; there were just a lot of people there). The finish line perfomers were Devo and they put on an incredibly good show!!! (I can't overstate this. Devo were awesome!)
