Death Valley Century and Double Century
March 5, 2005 Report and Results
Spring flowers ablaze by the million, a lake five miles wide near Badwater, spectacular weather, an awesome event production team, and a gaggle of Secret Service agents escorting the First Lady helped to provide what may be the most memorable and most enjoyable Death Valley Century and Double Century in history. On March 5, Death Valley was the place to be for the 145 century riders and 143 double century riders at the first AdventureCORPS event of the season. Mild temperatures, cloud cover on and off, and just a light headwind on occasion made for perfect riding weather and an exceptionally high finishing rate for both distances. As further testimony to the popularity of this event, riders came from as far away as the UK, Canada, plus Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah, Washington, and of course all across California. Congrats to all who attended, kudos to all who finished, and thanks to everyone for your support! We look forward to seeing you on the road again this year!

Awesome, Unsolicited, Totally Appreciated Feedback!
"Thanks for a great ride and see you next spring. You guys did a great job and thanks for the flowers. I have ridden this ride for many years and this was the best one." -Tim Rowe
"Thanks for putting on such a great ride. I enjoyed almost every minute of it." -Clare Holland
"Your ride was outstanding. The support was the best. I can't say I enjoyed every minute of the ride, but that's what makes it so good when you finish an event like that. You have to work hard to appreciate the success of completing 200 miles." -Jeannie Ennis
'The volunteers were great and I owe them thanks and I hope you will pass along my gratitude to them. It was a nice ride and a very nice day. Thanks for all your efforts in putting it on." -Gerd Rosenblatt
"Thank you an excellent day of cycling, please thank every one who worked behind the scenes to make it possible. I can see why this becomes addictive. I forgot to mention this was my first double century at the finish. I hope to take part in other events but its a long way from sunny, hot Devon, England!!!!!!!!" -Thanks, Andrew Carpenter
"To echo my bother's comments, another great ride. I never get tired of riding in Death Valley. This was my 6th DVD and I'll be back for more. Right now I am also planning on riding Furnace Creek 508 this year. Many thanks to you and all the people who make the event possible." -Paul Carpenter
"Thank you very much for such a nice piece of work at the Death Valley Century. Not having done a Century since 1993, I was a a little hesitant, but everything worked out surprisingly well for me. The food and drink was great in all respects, and the volunteers even better. If I were you, I wouldn't change a thing. You will see me again, thanks." -Mark Walsh
"My whole family (including mom, brother, partners, close family friend) came together for this event and cheered us for all 100 miles. The weather and wild flowers made it memorable, indeed. You did a great job of organizing this ride – the food, drinks, and volunteers were excellent. I can’t thank you enough for this experience." -Joe Rodriguez Jr. (and Joe Rodriguez Sr.)
"Thanks to you and the volunteers for another great weekend. The wind made it much harder than I expected but it also made for cooler temps. I still finished 15 mins sooner than I anticipated even with extra minutes spent at some of the later checkpoints. And met some new and (unexpectedly) old friends. So, it was a very successful weekend for me. Ride always, ride safe." -Alex Irizari
"Thank you for the ride. It was great. Oh, and thank you for the great weather and the great flowers! You did a good job arranging all of that. I had fun." -Judy Gonzalez
"It was a great first double for me and I want to thank the staff for great support." -Tom Tittle

"How did you secure this weather? Amazing event! Thank you all for doing that for us riders! Thank you very, very much!" -Leshek (first time to Death Valley in my life, just for the DC) Fiedorowicz
