Death Valley Century and Double Century
March 6, 2004: Report and Results

Northern route to Scotty’s Castle, Ubehebe Crater, and Hell’s Gate

Spectacular weather rewarded the nearly 300 participants in the Spring Death Valley Century and Double Century, held March 6, 2004. The 75 degree, mostly windless day was in sharp contrast with the rain, hail, snow, and windstorm adventure of twelve months prior! This was the second time this particular route was used and was again received with rave reviews. This 200 mile event also has the highest finishing rate ever: nearly 96%!

That's one gear with no coasting! Congrats to Sam Seal Beal! Sam is a veteran of Furnace Creek 508 and Race Across America. The Seal is in training to race "The 508" this October on his fixed gear bike.
