Turkey: Ephesus, Sardis, Gordion, and Hatusa / R0014285

Photos by Chris Kostman, June, 2002: Sardis is an impressive and important site that has been excavated for many years, I mean decades, by the great Berkeley professor, Dr. Crawford Greenewalt, AKA "Greenie." Unfortunately, he and his team had the day off today and were on a road trip of their own. But BPM and I toured the site and then I returned the next day on my own, en route to Ankara, and got the Greenie Tour of the site. (BPM left today via airplane to Istanbul, thus taking the next leg in her whirlwind tour of the great museums of Europe, ostensibly for dissertation research.)
