More Brevets - 300km Brevet Route

Thanks to everyone who rode or supported our 300km Brevet this past weekend. It was at least as epic and challenging as I had predicted and promised! According to altimeters worn by Peter Pop and Chuck Bramwell, we has just over 12,000 feet of cumulative elevation gain. That's actually less than I thought! But still, it was dramatic and and outrageous!

Special thanks to our Ride Director, Scott Scheff, who also ran Controle 1 in Malibou Lake and Controle 2 in Sycamore Cove. It's so great to have him on board with AdventureCORPS so that I can ride in these events! Also, a big thanks to Brian Ignatin at Controle 3 in Ventura, Premananda Childs and his staff at Friends Juice Bar, Controle 4 in Ojai, Adrienne Bramhall, whose home in Simi Valley was Controle 5, and Jeanne Thompson, whose home high atop Saddle Peak was Controle 6. Also, thanks to Sheila for helping Scott all day in the van, on the road, and at the start/finish line!

The feedback on this new event and incredible route has been overwhelmingly positive, and we're thrilled to hear that! (Of course, I did give everyone fair warning that it would be tough!) A few good adjustments for next year, though, including the possible option of starting at 4am so that most of the riders can get down Tuna Canyon in daylight. Also, we'll put out blinking lights at the after-dark controles, not to mention to mark the tunnel under PCH from the bike path. And, we'll have more Sustained Energy!
